When in Valencia….

Small guide to your week in Valencia!

  • Free walking tour (Link to the one we used), to get some first highlights of the city
  • Drink Agua de Valencia (cava, vodka, gin, a bit of sugar and most importantly, fresh orange juice from Valencia oranges.)
  • More drinks – Horchata! Random nuts drink!!! Very fresh! And veryyyy sweet. You eat it with farton- sweet bread! (don’t confuse with farts) 💨
  • more drinks? Cremaet, typical Spanish coffe! Basically coffee with rum 😅
  • Museo De Las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe – Iconic Museum of arts and sciences, most likely you will visit it for sure, just to take a pretty picture in front of it 😀 Very big museum!!’ So interactive ! Especially if you have kids – go for It! I think there is a huge aquarium in another part of it, we skipped it for now.
  • Dried river that is now a park – Turia (Jardi del Turia) You will for sure parts of it here and there, since it goes through the whole city! And from the Museo de Las Coencias, you basically just follow the river and get back to the city!
  • Archeological museum La almoina – Small museum, and free on Sunday!
  • If you have more time – Arts museum and Royal Gardens. Museum was cool but not enough descriptions! And also English not everywhere 😅 so this museum is better if you already have some knowledges . But it’s free 🙂
  • Instituto Valencia d’Arte Modern (IVAM) – Modern art time! Learned a lot about Julio González and his cubism; and you can also enjoy temporary exhibitions. Loved it!
  • La Lonja de la Seda (old beurs/exchanged market) and later hipster district Rusafa – Nice visit and only 2 euro! Building was sooo beautiful and looked very unique!

Around Valencia

  • Salto de la Novia waterfall – Was called a girlfriend waterfall because of the girl who jumped in to prove love for her boyfriend. Her village forced her but she could not swim so she died (so did a boy) 😅

  • Montanejos. – chill place for a swim!

Foods!

  • Voltereta – Restaurant which has concept of 1920 restaurant in New York. Hidden in book store 😄 great food and live music! 🎶 Also tried Cremaet, typical Spanish coffe! Basically coffee with rum 😅
  • Haus Playa – Paella at a beach (a bit overpriced, but fine)
  • La Rentaora – Great cheap tapas!
  • Horchateria Santa Catalina – oldest Horchateria ever , despite being quite touristy – loved it!
  • Bar Los Picapiedra – our favo tapas bar to which we came a couple of times!
  • Bocatin CB = Great place to try all types of Vermouth! They have them all! And with each drink you get a free pintxo. So great
  • Tasca El Botijo -Biggest tomato ever 🙌 Excellent food!!! What a true gem! Owner was nice and told us that we ordered too much, so recommended we take less. Appreciate help! Also, I tasted biggest tomato ever!!! Recommend it ! Reservation only if you call. We went on Friday; I think otherwise it would be too busy . Great; honest place, cozy!

How to get around?

we used VALENBICI! Great name and branding. You get a pass for a time, via an app; and you can bike and return back in designated spots.
